Course Structure

During the first year the MA Art History in Rome from Late Antiquity to the Present provides all the students with a solid background and in-depth analysis in three main disciplinary areas: art history; archeology and architecture; methodology.

During the second year the students will choose four specialized courses, naturally orienting their academic careers towards a more specific research field.

First year: Core Courses

• Art History (Medieval, Early Modern, Contemporary)
• History of Architecture
• Archeology (Late Antique and Early Christian, Roman)
• Textual Sources and Material Culture and Conservation

Second year:
Students will choose 4 courses among

• Dutch and Flemish Art 15th-17th Centuries
• Old Masters Prints and Drawings
• Western Iconography and the Cult of Saints
• Planning and Setting of Art Exhibitions and Events
• Aesthetics and Art Theory
• History of Roman Civilization
• Urban Planning
• Contemporary Art and its Theories
• History of Collecting, art Patronage and Museums
• Research Methodology and Scholarly Writing in Art History
• European Union Law

Extra activities:
